A challenging and flexible curriculum

The Solvay Ponts Global Executive MBA academic program is designed in compliance with our model of excellence and pedagogical innovation. We also have at heart to meet the constraints of our participants – busy senior professionals and managers – and offer them a convenient and flexible program format.

Participants are required to take and validate all 17 mandatory core courses to graduate. They have the opportunity to take or catch up some of the courses at no extra academic cost in one of the other Solvay Ponts or Fox MBA programs in Europe, the Americas, Asia or Africa. Participants may also choose to attend up to 3 electives in one of our programs.

How is the program structured?

Each course is taught over the weekend as a 3-day block, on Fridays (9:00 AM to 7:00 PM), Saturdays (9:00 AM to 7:00 PM) and Sundays (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM).

While most of the classes take place in the center of Paris, 2 modules are organized in Brussels over a week-end each and 2 modules are delivered, along with filed visits, over one week in Philadelphia

In the course of the program, three 4-hour Global E-MBA workshops enable you to study online with Global E-MBA participants from three continents.

You will then have two months at the end of the coursework to complete your Professional Advancement Project at home or in your company.

Professional Advancement Project

The Professional Advancement Project Project is completed during the fall semester of the second year. Participants are expected to apply their newly acquired E-MBA skills to a strategic topic of their choice.

Projects can be completed either individually or in teams of up to 3 members. Each project is assigned a Supervisor and can take one of the following forms:

Consulting Project

Most Global Executive MBA participants decide on tackling a crucial business issue they’re facing in their own company. This is a remarkable opportunity to showcase participants’ recently acquired abilities and get noticed for career advancement. They can also opt to fulfill a mission brought to us by international companies, ranging in subject from capital financing to product launching, business strategy to product chain management, etc. Participants define the detailed objectives and planning in accordance with the client and the School Faculty.

Business Plan Development

Our Global Executive MBA gives you the unique chance to design the business you’d like to start. Several participants take advantage each year of the School’s facilities and entrepreneurial ecosystem to put their business ideas into action.

Special Research Project

Participants who are experts in their field, or those willing to instigate a career change, can choose a new development concept bringing a sustainable competitive advantage to the business world. This research project serves as a demonstration of the graduate’s unique skills and value for a recruiter.

International study trips

Silicon valley

With a focus on innovation, technology management and entrepreneurship, the US study trip takes you to San Francisco and Silicon Valley. Get to meet leading technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship organizations, financial institutions, and local industry. The detailed program of this study trip includes a mix of academic lectures, visits to innovative companies (large and small), meetings with venture capitalists, high-profile guest speakers and business leaders as well as a visit to Stanford University and University of California at Berkeley.

International business and cross-cultural management are the focus of our Asia study trip in Shanghai, China. The trip’s major objectives are to get a grounding into Chinese society, culture, and business life while studying current business issues in China for both Chinese and foreign companies. In addition, you will have the opportunity to develop contacts with SIMBA (Shanghai International MBA) participants, alumni, and businessmen. The program of the trip includes academic lectures, guest presentations and company visits.

While the tuition fees of the Solvay Ponts Global Executive MBA cover all academic costs, a contribution of €1,500 is required to participate in any optional study trip. This contribution covers hotel accommodation, group meals, and local group transportation (airfare excluded).

Career advancement & personal development

The Solvay Ponts Global Executive MBA embraces a one-on-one approach to career advancement and personal development, tailored to the needs of senior professionals and managers. Our participants can seize the opportunity to join our coaching program, offered by a team of selected professional coaches from various industries and backgrounds. The program consists of 10 one-hour individual sessions over a period of one year. Your coach helps you define your personal and professional goals and provides the tools and the mentoring to achieve them. Please note that this program is optional and subject to a specific €500 contribution — approximately one third of the coaching costs — to ensure each participant’s commitment.

Early in the program, GEMBA participants are also invited to attend a seminar on how to best leverage the services and the networks offered by the 3 alumni associations. We strongly recommend our participants to take an active part in alumni activities from day one. It gives them an opportunity to learn from their predecessors how to best put into practice the set of leadership skills and management techniques that they’re acquiring in the MBA program.

In addition, the school offers a range of career services such as business cards for participants, the distribution of a CV book to partnering recruiters and access to specialized guides and online tools.

Online application tool

Admissions are considered on a rolling basis. However, it is advisable to send your application as soon as possible for various reasons. First of all, availability within the next class is limited. Applications will not be processed, however, until all required documents have reached us.

You might need a visa or there may be certain administrative formalities that take time to complete. If you are not an EU citizen, the student visa procedure might take a few weeks or even a few months depending on your country of origin.

We require a promising GMAT or GRE score. Admission with a GMAT score below 550 is unlikely. In exceptional cases, outstanding academic credentials, unique work experience, or other relevant information may compensate for a lower GMAT score.

Alternatively, you can take our internal test, which can either be organized on-campus or online.

Once your file has been completed and reviewed by our admissions team, you will be invited to a final interview at the school or via Skype.

As an Applicant you are required to have:

significant and valuable work experience
a desire to work in an international environment and be open to diversity
an outstanding academic record (Master level)
proficiency in business English
leadership skills and diligence, coupled with the ability to work under stress

We aim to create a community of participants that will contribute to the diversity and uniqueness of the MBA program. Therefore, the Admission Committee will meticulously examine the biographical and academic background information, GMAT score, achievements, awards and honors, employment history, and letters of recommendation.

Financing options

Making the choice to pursue an MBA is an important investment that requires thought as to how to best finance your program both in terms of tuition fees and cost of living expenses. As every individual is unique in terms of situation, opportunities and needs, our Admissions Team will be happy to assist you in the elaboration of your financing mix.

In addition to finding a short description of the main financing options below, you may also download a comprehensive, up-to-date document gathering tips, sources and advice.

Please note that many financing schemes are time-sensitive and may require planning six months or more before your program starts.

Common MBA financing options

Company sponsorship and/or funding

Depending on company policy, employers can finance all or part of MBA tuition fees. It is rare today that an employer agrees to finance an MBA in full, but it is not unheard of. More often, you can negotiate a significant contribution to your tuition fees. In addition, some companies offer corporate scholarships.

Student Loans

This is the most common source of financing for MBA programs. The Solvay Ponts Admissions Team has negotiated preferred rates and packages with leading European banks for all participants that meet the banks’ criteria, such as providing a loan guarantor.

Tax Reduction

In many countries an MBA is considered a tax-deductible expense.

French Government Scholarships

Available through the Campus France network or your local French Embassy, they are primarily aimed at attracting quality graduate students. Beneficiaries are selected on the basis of academic criteria.

Funding by Country

Every country has scholarship and funding options and you should contact institutions in your country to check for available opportunities. Some online platforms help students to obtain information about different scholarships, grants, financial aid across the globe. In France, for instance, professionals can benefit from an individual right to training (DIF/CPF) and support from a joint labor/management fund (FONGECIF).
